Disaster Potential Research Laboratory

We evaluate regional disaster potential and develop new technologies to mitigate disasters and to evaluate complex multi-disaster influence.
We develop a highly applicable constant model based on phenomena and a numerical model for disaster potential evaluation. We also develop technologies for disaster mitigation, which needs efficiency from the integral point of view of hazards, vulnerability of regions and disaster control.

The followings are now under research and development, and expected further development in future.

  1. Efficient technology to control coastal erosion
  2. Efficient technology to control river bank erosion
  3. Technology to predict floods
  4. Research on complex damages by earthquake, landslides and rainfall
  5. Evaluation of bedrock collapse danger by rainfall and earthquake
  6. Research on polluted ground water by arsenic and secure water resources
  7. Anticipation of future water resources by Tropical Glacier Melt
